Sam Flowers
Abigail caught up with Stylist’s multi award winning beauty editor and new mummy Samantha Flowers and asked some burning beauty questions….
Q. Whats your morning routine?
Since having Leo I need products that are quick to apply, fast-absorbing and make a real difference when it comes to perking up my skin and helping me feel ready to face the day. I’ve been using This Works Light Time Cleanse and Glow which is packed with vitamin c and I’ve been really impressed with how bright my skin looks afterwards (after not a lot of sleep) which I then fol
low with an eye cream (I’m alternating This Works Light Time Open Eyes and Hylamide SubQ Eyes both of which I find absorb quickly so you can get onto the next step without dawdling). When I’ve had a particularly bad night with Leo I saturate cotton pads with Liz Earle Eye Bright Soothing Eye Lotion and I hold them over my sore eyes for 10 seconds to take down the puffiness. Next I use a serum (I save oils for night time) and I’m really loving Aurelia Revitalise and Glow Serum. Can you tell I’m chasing the elusive glow?? I’m actually on my second bottle of this in eight months because I find it so dreamy, my skin looks much more even when I’m using this. Call me strange but I actually look forward to applying it because it feels so cooling on the skin which helps to wake me up in the morning. I then add a dash of Skinceuticals SPF 30 followed by Elemis Marine Cream which really quenches my dehydrated skin.
Q. Whats your ultimate breakfast?
Smoked salmon and poached eggs on sourdough with a side of avocado, a really good quality americano coffee and a great fresh juice.
Q. How many hours sleep do you get?
I have a nine month old baby boy so I average around 5-7 hours of broken sleep right now.
Q. What one product makes you feel beautiful?
Mascara
Q. Who is your beauty icon?
Jessica Alba
Q. Any beauty disasters?
I once agreed to dye my hair a rich coffee shade using a certain brand of box hair dye for a feature. It turned bright red. As in traffic light red. I’ve never used a home hair dye again.
Q. If you had one piece of beauty advice for your younger self what would it be?
STOP OVER PLUCKING YOUR EYEBROWS. And dial down the tan.
Q. Essential supplement?
I’ve just started with magnesium to help with my energy levels.
Q. Favourite beauty tool?
MAC 187 Foundation brush and my Tangel Teezer
On my bedside cabinet I have….
Aesop Resurrection Hand Balm (no one warned me on the painful dry hands that come with caring for a baby), Butter London Holiday Cuticle Oil, bottle of water, baby monitor & iPhone.
