We all agree that Judy Murray is looking incredible after her recent non-surgical facelift. The good news is that everyone can get similar results with a course of specific treatments and minimal downtime. Judy isn’t one of my personal clients but I’ve had so many questions about her amazing non-surgical facelift that I’ve put together this Q&A.
I also offer a special treatment package based on a non-surgical facelift which you can book at my Surrey clinic here.
Judy Murray has had a variety of non-surgical facelift treatments to make her look younger.
According to news websites, Judy’s had a treatment called ‘Morpheus8″ over a course of treatments. This technology is RadioFrequency Micro-needling, which has been around for a number of years. It’s great for reducing the appearance of wrinkles, lines, scars and some tightening of the skin.
Yes. In my clinic, I’ve offered this technology for many years and have a brand new machine called The Focus Dual, which is similar, it also combines High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) which is the best face lifting technology for more dramatic lifting and sculpting results.
This machine has two parts to it: the RadioFrequency Micro-needling and HIFU Treatment. You can read more about these here. I personally find combining HIFU with the RFM and skincare gives amazing results. When only RF needling is used, we miss out on a more dramatic lift and plum along with reduction of fat in specific areas from having it as a combined treatment programme with other technologies. Read more here.
I’ve worked with RadioFrequency Micro-needling for a number of years. It’s using fine needles to penetrate the skin and radio frequency heat goes down each of the needles. That means you get the collagen stimulation at the point of the needle going in while getting the heating of the tissue from around it. It’s a double whammy for smoothing and restoring the skin’s texture.
With RFM, you’re causing controlled trauma through the dermis. This stimulates collagen production through a healing cascade that happens naturally when the skin is damaged under control, regenerating your skin’s natural healing response to form new, youthful and smooth collagen.
In Judy’s photos, even though the lighting looks slightly different in both of them, you can see a huge improvment in skin texture.
I would also be adding to this type of result with the addition of HIFU which adds an extra level of lift and tightens the skin with more dramatic results. These two technologies can be combined for amazing results with a machine called the Focus Dual.
Judy will have had RadioFrequency Micro-needling all over her face and neck. The machine that was used on Judy’s face is known to be slightly aggressive and quite painful. RF needling can be a slightly feisty depending on the settings used and desired results. I find the Focus Dual treatment, due to its fine needles, not as painful and a topical anaesthetic cream can be applied prior. There will be minor down time.
I personally tailor each treatment for comfort, as well as results, and support throughout the before, during and after care.
RadioFrequency Micro-needling treatment causes controlled trauma: the skin naturally sends blood and fresh nutrients to heal the damage. This is when the heat can kick in; the area treated can feel warm for a few hours after treatment.
This is the body’s natural healing response. Some inflammation and redness is actually a good thing.
Where we’ve got deep lines and wrinkles, the only way to reverse them, or restore them, is by causing controlled damage. There isn’t going to be a moisturiser that’s going to fix those.
The downtime after RadioFrequency Micro-needling depends on the strength of the treatment and the client’s skin.
Over the 24 hour period following the treatment, the skin is going to look quite pink or red.
Depending on the person, this might last for 1 -5 days. The skin may then go through a dry phase where it’s renewing. It generally takes around seven to 10 days for a full turnaround.
However, many clients are fine within 24 hours and usually by day three, signs of the treatment are very slight and other people wouldn’t be able to tell. This is why it’s classed as a minimal downtime treatment.
What I always say to clients having RFM is that you’re not going out for dinner tonight and I wouldn’t be going on a date tomorrow.
Ideally, if you can avoid putting make-up on for 48 hours that’s going to help the healing response as well.
I will always recommend specific professional serums and products. Your home care is so important for achieving the best results.
Judy’s is reported to have been using Obagi skincare, which will reduce the appearance of pigmentation in quite an aggressive way, using skin bleaching ingredients such as hydroquinone, not a brand I personally recommend. I’ve seen people stop using that particular brand and the pigmentation bounces back even worse over time, so please do your research first.
Personally, I would use IPL (Intense Pulsed Light therapy) to treat pigmentation on her skin tone. Read more here.
This would be alongside other home care for pigmentation and age-specific skin renewal.
My favourite pigment supporting combination right now is IS Clinical Brightening Serum and IS Clinical Brightening Complex with IS clinical SPF 30.
I also love Skinbetter Science Even Tone Correcting Serum + Alpharet and Overnight Cream with Epionce tinted SPF. Please email the clinic to order these.
I don’t think Judy has had any Botox or fillers. If you have Botox and or fillers, you can still have these types of treatments.
I recommend waiting at least three weeks after Botox after six weeks after having fillers before RFM. That’s quite standard when doing these slightly more invasive treatments.
Yes, if it’s a specific area you would like to treat, we can put a treatment together like a jigsaw.
So if your neck is your area of concern, for example, we can target that. The same goes for the eyes or lips. I find the best results happen when more than one area is targeted.
If you’d like treatment on the jowls and lower face, we can do HIFU facelift treatment as well or instead.
HIFU facelift treatment feels really comfortable and doesn’t use any needles. This can be used all over the face.
The HIFU heats and tightens the superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS) layer of the skin, which tightens collagen in a different way. It will give you that face-lifting result.
With deeper lines and wrinkles, you might like a RadioFrequency Micro-needling treatment on certain areas. But you can use different treatments on different areas (like a jigsaw) depending on what you want to achieve. OR a course of individual treatments, i.e x1 hifu then x1 needling for a complete course of 6 -8 treatments.
It really depends on your own specific needs and concerns. I would generally start with a consultation to discuss your needs. Judy has had 8 treatments of just the RF needling.
A starting point might be a course of three to six treatments of the Focus Dual combining HIFU facelift treatment with Radio Frequency Micro-needling and some recommended home care products for the best results. If you’re put off by the sound of needles, then the HIFU as a standalone course also gives amazing results.
