why organic?

Researchers believe that as much as 85% of cancer can be traced back to chemicals we are exposed to through, the environment, air and application.

EchinaciaMany of today’s beauty products are made up of varying mixtures of synthetically produced chemicals which are undeniably toxic to our bodies. Individual ingredients vary in their ability to penetrate the skin, some are absorbed in tiny amounts while some can reach the blood vessels below the skin and be transported around the body. While one product may contain very small amounts of some of these ingredients, it is the cumulative effect of applying various products regularly that causes concern.

Don’t underestimate the power of what you apply to the skin, as much as the skin is a protective barrier it obviously does absorb a substantial amount of what is applied to it as doctors use this method for administering drugs such as hormone and nicotine patches.

Over the past few years there have been certain cosmetic ingredients that have been highlighted in the media due to their links with health scares which has led some people to choosing organic as a safer alternative.

We may have become aware of some of the main culprits of ingredients to avoid but cosmetic companies do not have to declare on their labelling all of the ingredients if the amounts are below a certain percentage and we are blissfully unaware of what these are, which can penetrate the skin and accumulate within our bodies over years of use building up as toxins causing long term ill effects.

People who suffer from sensitive skin or conditions such as eczema or Psoriases say that organic products work better for them, but with new organic and biodynamic ingredients becoming available anti aging organically is possible making natural skincare not just for the sensitive skinned but for everyone.

Parents are increasingly choosing organic products for their babies and children as their bodies are still developing and are more susceptible to chemicals in non-organic products and more likely to develop allergic reactions to ingredients such as fragrances.

There is also a huge knock on effect to the environment through organic farming, less pesticides and chemicals are being put back into the soil, in tern having a positive effect on the near by communities health.
